Located in Cobargo’s new Innovation Hub, the Cobargo Community Access Centre transitioned from the Cobargo Bushfire Relief Centre in mid 2021. With the vision of building a stronger, more resilient community together, the Centre engages with and supports members of the Cobargo community and the broader region, including those affected by the Black Summer bushfires. With funding support from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, the Bendigo Bank, and the Cobargo Community Bushfire Recovery Fund and other donors, the Centre facilitates a number of projects and programs.
Centre activities, services and users include:
- a monthly Seniors Morning Tea (book early numbers are limited)
- Sound Check Youth Music Mentoring program
- NSW Health Counsellor (NSW Health)
- Shoalcoast Legal Services (fortnightly)
- Renewable Cobargo
- Cobargo Wellness Group
- School of Arts Players (SOAPi)
- Here 2 Help – Free literacy and numeracy tutoring for adults (Fridays,)
The Centre also creates important pathways for the delivery of federal, state and local government services, community service providers and other community-based organisations. One of Centres big goals for 2023 is to set up a bank of computers for community use, including supporting computer classes for older people.
